Description

These Grilled Onion Blossoms are a smoky, cheesy, low-carb twist on the classic Bloomin’ Onion. No frying needed—just grill until tender and golden, then serve with a tangy homemade dipping sauce for the ultimate BBQ side or snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • For the Dip:
  • 1/4 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1 Tbsp. ketchup
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tsp. paprika
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • For the Onion Blossoms:
  • 1/2 cup finely grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 Tbsp. paprika
  • 1/8 tsp. cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 tsp. Italian seasoning
  • 4 sweet Vidalia onions, peeled with root end intact
  • Olive oil, for drizzling
  • Fresh chopped parsley, for garnish
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, sour cream, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, paprika, cayenne, and a pinch of salt. Chill in the fridge.
  2. Mix Parmesan, paprika, cayenne, and Italian seasoning in a bowl. Add salt to taste.
  3. Cut the stem end off each onion and place it flat-side down. Slice into 12–16 segments, cutting 1/2 inch from the root. Flip over and gently separate layers to bloom.
  4. Sprinkle each onion generously with the cheese-spice mix. Drizzle with olive oil.
  5. Place onions on a preheated grill over medium-high heat. Cover and grill for 15 minutes until tender and charred.
  6. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve hot with the dipping sauce.

Notes

To save time, prep the onions and sauce ahead, but grill just before serving for best texture and flavor.
