Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 teaspoons sesame oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ⅓ cup soy sauce (low-sodium works great)
  • 3 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 2 teaspoons rice vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon ground ginger
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)
  • Sliced green onions (for garnish)

Instructions

 Cook the Beef and Onion

  • Heat sesame oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Add ground beef and diced onion.
  • Cook, breaking up the beef, until browned and the onions are softened.
  • Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  • Drain excess grease if needed, then return to the skillet.

2. Prepare the Sauce

  • In a small bowl, whisk together:
    • Soy sauce
    • Brown sugar
    • Honey
    • Rice vinegar
    • Ground ginger

3. Combine and Simmer

  • Pour the teriyaki sauce over the beef mixture.
  • Let it simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and coats the beef.

4. Garnish and Serve

  • Sprinkle sesame seeds and sliced green onions on top.
  • Serve over steamed rice, in lettuce wraps, or alongside stir-fried broccoli for a complete meal.

Notes

  • Storage Tip: Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days, or freeze for up to 3 months.
